Can anyone help with code problem for VW navigation unit.. know of any specialists that may help..VW were useless.

To set the scene I recently bought a 2003 Golf V5 and decided to treat myself with an in-dash proper VW navigation system, and being ever the bargain hunter I picked one up off e-bay (I know it was asking for trouble - especially as it came from Lithuania!!). Anyway it arrived and worked well, result I thought; but no, after a couple of weeks use it started to ask me for the code everytime I started the car (I suspected there was a problem with the constant live and the memory live and meant to get it booked in to have it sorted). Anyway after about a further week of inputing the code each time I started the car - it stoped accepting the code!!!!!!![:^(]

I thought I'd bite the bullett and take it to VW to sort out, and they charged me 60 to tell me that I needed to take it elsewhere; apparently the code had been changed from the original one issued from VW, therefore they couldn't do anything with it.. I protested to no avail, the only thing they could tell me was that there were no other fault codes on the system and once I got the code sorted it should work fine.... they recommended a local outfit that specialised in In-car-entertainment, but unfortunately the guy couldn't get hold of the diagramtic/schematic drawings for the unit and therfore didn't want to mess around with it.

So to sum it up I have a Sat Nav unit that I can't use and no one can tell if there is anywhere I can take it to be fixed. If anyone could give me any advice it may stop me crying everytime I get in my car and look at the hole in the dash..

    Thanks
