Can anyone recommend or suggest a good specialist in the Manchester area to do some mechanicals on a Mk3 GTi? Probably gearbox and other bits. Also I've seen 'Awesome's adverts - they're quite near me. Can anyone recommend the for this sort of work?
Awesome have a good (if expensive!) reputation, although I've never used them myself. I've used John Delany Motors in Stockport a couple of times. They came highly recommended from a Mk3 GTI owning mate of mine, and so far they have seemed a very impressive outfit. Dubsport are fairly nearby and have a new premises about 5 minutes off the M6 towards Wigan.
hello a 20min drive down the m66 and go too onlyvw motorsport he has been great with me in the past or theres a place in oldham also vw specialist -volksmaster ! and one on the main raod into manchester from oldham ?...opposite the texaco garage cant remember that name either ? a few others too if you fish about ....awesome know there stuff but you pay for it !?
Thanks for the info guys. I'll give them a call and check them out. I had seen Awesome's adverts but hadn't found anyone else I would trust with taking the gearbox out. However I didn't want to pay their prices either! vwnutant, I like the wheels on the Passat! Am thinking of buying one of the Highline 130 estates if the prices come down a bit more. (would like the 4motion but too pricey). Any comments on them as a good car?
there is a relatively new back street type garage on ashton old road just b4 the dc cook bridge on the right they found me a 16v box for my motor within a couple of days and it was a minter! cheap as chips and a top bloke! i think this is their number but not 100% 01612744004
