VW Tools

    Where can i but a gear linkage adjuster tool? and how much are they?

    Dealer only for about 20 i think. I didnt bother using one when i aligned my linkage, just marked it before i started un-doing bits and pieces.......

    Havent a clue mate, the dealers should know about it if you phone them. I'll have a look on ETKA in a min too and see if i can find it, save a phone call :)

    yeah i have asked my dealer b4 n they said they didnt sell tools of any kind!

    some dealers sell em..some dont,i think mine was around 10

    Any given gutter, any given day.
    Bear in mind they're no use at all unless ALL the bushes in the linkage are unworn.....
    If you get the part number, they'll sell you it.

    You don't need the tool.

    Loosen the pinch bolt on the shaft in the engine bay.

    Then get something 1cm thick and put it between the sticky outy arm bit on the gear stick and the left hand side plastic stop.
    Then set the stickyouty bit so its 3.5cm from the front of the plastic stop.

    Use a bungy cord or some gaffa tape to hold the stick and re-tighten the pinch bolt.

    Sorted.

    Hmm, did an ETKA search on 'sticky outy arm bit' and didn't find anything, do you have a part number? ;)

    Sorry couldn't resist! Anyway cheers for the sound advice, anything that saves me money is always good!

    saltus 3104 ,if you put in "vw shift tool" or something into google theres a few places selling em in usa...prob work out fairly cheep

    with my new bushes and that tool my gears are sweet(shame the box has started to howl though [xx(] )

    Or if you want you can make one yourself from this diagram, but you really don't need to

    Print out the diagram and take it to a laser cutting company,will cost around a tenner.
