washing powder to clean engine?

    has anybody on here ever put washing powder into their coolant(one scoop for two or three days)ive heard of people doing this and is supposed to clear lots of internal debris from channels and what comes out in a tub you wouldnt believe.so im told.:o

    Never heard of it

    But I suppose something like the calgon tablets could do a good job on the lime scale.

    I've done it,used Fairy dishwasher tablets in a VR6 engine, I made my own Ibiza foam party!! lol

    yea might be too good and strip half the gaskets too.scary thought water p*****g out where it shouldnt.but having said that washing m/c have a lot of plastic and rubber parts internally![:D]

    Loads of rusty s h i t e. I ran it with it in there for about 1/2hr then flushed it out with hose pipe.

    You'll never get it all out as it's inside the block, but as I say loads of rusty s h i t e came out when I did mine.

    sounds like a good result to me with all that crap out its gonna circulate better and u know uself its cleaner system.dont sound like theres any downsides.

    my garage did this when the head gasket went to clean out coolant of engine oil.

    Do it all the time when doing rover h/gaskets and on a few vw`s with oil cooler failure,use non biological as it doesent froth up then take it for a blast on fast spinlol
