Hi guys, quick question here... My mates car when up to Temp pushes water out the expansion bottle, I said it could be a dodgy cap on the bottle as it's a pressurized system and that will be the cause, he thinks it's something worse... What else could it be?? Water pump?? Air lock?? Sorry if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move if needs be, cheers
it could be down to a leak in the system, a blown head gasket, rad fan not cutting in or an air lock as you say. id start by changing the cap, then makign sure the system is all good with no leakage. its common to leak from the plastic flanges on the engine block etc. have a read of my coolant faq, tells you how to check the system and bleed the coolant http://www.clubgti.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=145091
