watercooled or oil cooled???

    hi there. got a chance to buy a garrett t28 hybrid. just wondering whether they are watercooled or oil cooled? cheers guys for an help

    AFAIK Turbo's were never "oil cooled", they either had no cooling and the oil just baked on the bearings - Series 1 RS Turbo & Saab 900 Turbo. Or they have water cooling around the bearing housings to help keep them cool.

    i know for a fact that the T25 is water cooled. the Oil feed is just there to keep the turbo lubed up. so it stands to reason that the t28 would be similar.. i've seen a couple of stupidly high rpm Turbos with their own oil cooler, but that just seems a bot overkill for me.
