I have got a MK2 Golf driver with a single webber carb and the manual choke works as normal but after I have warmed it up for 2 or 3 minutes with the choke fully out and I put the choke back in and it drops straight to 500 rpm or less and keeps cutting out! It has been idling as normal at around 1,000 rpm until now. What do you think the problem could be, do I need to set up the mixture of fuel and air if so how?

does it still drop to 500 or less when fully warm?

warm it up to full temp the adjust the idle to whatever you like ...say 850 ish

and typically you would progressively push in the choke as it warms up to keep it running well

Yes when it is fully warm it still drops to 500 and sometimes cuts out, not sure whether it would have anything to do with the breather pipes?

well whip out the jets , its just a flat screwdriver job 2 mins and blast them with carb cleaner

re fit then warm up and reset to around 850 and see how it goes
