After some advice regards the emulsion tubes on webbers, managed to get a 2nd hand set which i have fully refurbed with new idle jets etc. I plan to fit these to my 1.3 X-flow Polo, i have already P&P the head and fitted a piper285 cam, with a ashley 4 branch. Can anyone recommend emulsion tube sizes and trumpet lenghts?
Yes, your local rolling road tuner. Trying to tune carbs over the internet is a waste of time. (Someone will probably post up a rough answer out of a book but the only way you'll get the best setup is by paying someone who knows what they're doing.)
Cheers Not sure if the imulsion tubes that run in the center of the barrel are correct lenght, they are about 100mm long!!
Turbo kid> which polo is it? i have an mk1 and I'm doing the same thing, fitting two double solex 40mm, so I would like that you keep us posted how's it going or perhaps you can send me a pm with updates.... which fuel pump are you going to use?
Hi will keep you up-dated, probally help each other out a lot! I am already using a Facet pump due to the Piper cam not have a lobe to run the mech fuel pump. Its a 2.5-3 psi not sure if thats enough for the carbs? (anybody help??) may have th up rate? Im using a 1.3 coupe 55bhp as the base motor engine code MH. PM also sent
so it's a mk3 polo coupe? Is this on picture the carb you're useing? I thought you have two double webbers I'm pretty weak with english terminology considering car parts and therefore I don't understand the following: "I am already using a Facet pump due to the Piper cam not have a lobe to run the mech fuel pump." -facet pump = fuel pump? -piper cam = camshaft? -a lobe to run..... =?? how did you close the hole where the mechanical fuel pump used to be (on engine head)? didn't get your pm
Its a mk2 coupe, the picture is as it is now before the twin 40s i dont yet have my inlet manifold! Facet is a make of fuel pump I Fabricated a plate to cover the old fuel pump point
you're buying inlet manifold? i'm makeing it myself for some while now, should be done soon is that facet pump taken off some car or what? what's it's nominal pressure in bar (i don't now relation bar-psi) so, only plate over hole will do the trick
hmm, im also running a mk2 polo 1.3, anyways any pics of the engine now with the twin 40`s on? also where r u getting the twin 40`s from ? Edited by: FaTe
the uk north east area about 5 miles from newcastle, how worth while is it doing the conversation though ? and wroughly what kinda price range
well it doesn't say in your profile which country are you from, so I asked if you decide to buy...... around 100 Solex, Del'Ortoo or Weber 40's (yes, they are in pair)
get back at me with some contact details for them, email thefog@fatesville.co.uk and we`ll sort something out thnx btw
dave walkers website gives good description and guides to get them running. agree with greg though, local tuner for the fine stuff. http://www.members.aol.com/dvandrews/webers.htm where did you get the inlet manifold from incidentally ? been toying with twinning my mk2 HK
