Wedding Anniversaries and gifts...

    My Mrs is insists we get each other wedding anniversary gifts... and for someone who vehemently detests commercialised events/occasions etc.. for some reason she follows the whole traditional wedding anniversary gift structure... i.e.

    1st anniversary = cotton
    2nd = paper
    3rd = leather
    4th = fruit/flowers etc...

    So we are on our 7th year. Which equates to copper or wool as a traditional gift..
    WTF do you buy that is actually useful/worth buying?!

    Wool - well, we are breaking into spring, and soon summer (for 3 days)... so woolen clothes etc are pretty useless.
    Copper - if I buy her cooking pots I'm sure to suffer a painful death. What else if worth buying? I'm not going to spend money on some little pointless ornament (junk) that will clutter up the house, gather dust and just get in the way when trying to clean etc.

    Any suggestions?
    What is wrong with a card and a completely non-traditional gift... ?!

    I was thinking maybe a Police man's uniform for me to wear lol Technically I could be the 'Copper'? ;)

    Thoughts?

    A Copper Flower ?

    Ticks the copper box, will last, isn`t seasonal and it`s a flower, which they always like to receive ? lol

    That was just the first once I googled, there are loads of other places selling them.

    A lamb? That will probably put her off any future gifts ;)

    Call me a bit lame but what girl doesn't like jewelry? Onyx, Yellow Sapphire & Golden Beryl are gems associated with the year. The hard part is figuring out her various ring sizes and style tastes. Once that has been established it becomes easier. FleaBay Onyx rings! Points awarded for being resourceful and alternative! My 2 cents worth. Still works 20 years on. She knows it too!

    Ah yes Nige! That would be a sensible gift, but I can just see stuff like that getting in the way in the long run...
    Ian - the Lamb would be hilarous! Would be intersting seeing how the lamb and the twins interact!

    Why the Mrs cant just apply her "I dont like commercialised stuff" stance to anniversaries... I dont know...

    Right - a trip into Guildford to see what the highstreet has to offer!
    It had answers for her 1st mothers day.. hopefully it has the answer to this as well.

    Acutally - a thought - what about buying a sheep/lamb for some rural farmer in Africa as a chariety thing... She is into all that, but I'm always dubious whether someone actually receives the lamb/sheep for wool/breeding (with sheep!) etc... and it doesnt just end up in a hot pot.

    Hmm.

    It's our anniversary next week - we're going into town (god help me) to buy her something shiny, I'm having an adjustable seatpost for my MTB. Bawls to all the paper/cooper ****, I mean what the feck can you get someone with cooper? Some new pipework for the boiler, a bust of Winston Churchill?

    It's my 1 year anniversary next Saturday. We might be heading over to Portugal for a week, but not sure yet.

    God knows what else I can buy her ? [:[]... And I won't be telling her about the traditional gifts. I won't hear the last of it then lol

    Copper-red hair dye?

    Or find a clever florist & tell them you want a copper themed bouquet, you look thoughtful but they have to do the thinking

    Go to B&Q or your local plumber's merchant and get the parts to build this for under 30;

    [IMG]

    Then show her this website for the identical "designer" version and associated price-tag...

    ;)

    She's loving her GTI.

    Everyday she's telling me how good sports mode is on her Polo. At this rate, I will be buying her petrol lol

    I've only got a week, need to think of something. Quite short notice for Portugal if I'm honest!!

  18. 20m of 2.5mm T&E. You don't even need to buy it, say you hid it outside and the pikeys must have stolen it.
    "Oh I'm so sorry darling, why don't you give me a blow job to make up for the theft? There was a gypsy woman passed by the other day, she said there was a curse on us and that's what you need to do to shake the curse off"
