    Hello there.

I noticed that my left driveshaft inner cv has a really weird angle. What is the issue? It doesnt make noises or anything unusual. Is this ok? Subject is my MK2 GTI with ABF swap, stock DPA box and G2 GTI driveshafts. (Please ignore the zip tie, i already replaced it.)

    I think that's not unusual?

Actually it also looks kind of funny to me?
The centerline of the gearbox output and the shaft do not match or 'meet in the middle' on a logical point - at least so it seems.

And the question is, why? MK2 subframe, proper engine and box mounts, MK2 suspension arms, hub etc. The car runs well, doesnt make anything weird on the road.

    As Sir Tom would say……
So funny he said it twice…

It does look odd for sure. Maybe the angle of the photo? What happens if you rotate a wheel, does it look better in any way?

    front wheels were straight ?
if you turn steering wheel to the right, the left hand outer CV joint moves backwards and so does the driveshaft..

Yes, they were straight. The driveshaft stays like this if i rotate the streeringwheel, i tried.
I made a new Pic from different angle, but it doesnt look better [:D]

Looks fine to me. The CV joint is the metal between the gearbox flange and the tin plate attached to the CV boot. To me it looks like the driveshaft would centre in the CV joint (this is a long way from the end of the rubber boot).

which front and rear brackets did you use? the 02a gearbox differential is actually 10mm further away from the engine than the 020 but VW kept the diff in the same place, so the rear bracket is 10mm longer and front 10mm shorter to bring everything back into line.

Do you have numbers for that, as I will probably face the same issue next winter.

front is 357199273, cant really miss it very different design to normal mk2. rear can use any of these 535199354, 357199354, 357199354 or 535199354C. Alternatively just use a 10mm spacer between bracket and block, does same job

Front one i have to check (if i remember correct, that came from a B3/4 Passat, not sure, i swapped the abf long ago) rear one is a stock G2 from my PF engine.

ok, you'll need a 10mm spacer or a 02a rear bracket then this may help with the angle as it'll push the engine forward on the driver side rotating the whole thing anti-clockwise if you're looking down on it from above

the front one if all the bolts fit in it properly is an 02a type, but if its a mk3 golf or later b4 passat it'll lift the engine up at the front as the mk3 front mount sits lower and flatter

    I have checked the numbers.
    Front: 1H0 199 273
    Rear: 191 199 354 A
So i need another rear one, or spacers.

Ok so they're both wrong  front is mk3 golf, rear is MK2 golf. Rear fit a spacer, front source the proper g60/corrado/early Passat 357 number I quoted above

Actually if you have the corrado vr6 type front engine carrier with mk3 front mount then you can use the mk3 front bracket, also found on the later b4 Passat plus toledo

Thank you for your help  I will replace both. Can i keep the MK2 front bracket and MK2 rubber bush and just replace the front mount (357199273)?

357199273 is for the front bracket, you can keep the mk2 mount and crossmember:

Hello again. I still got this issue, but today finally had time, removed the driveshafts and measured them. Question is, they are the correct ones to my setup, or not? ABF, G2 wishbones, 02A gearbox.
Lenghts (just the shafts itself) :

678 mm (666 mm circlip to circlip)
434 mm (420 mm circlip to circlip)
