I've driven turbo's, not keen on the power delivery, they always feel faster than they actually are. Superchargers make too much noise and sap too much power to run and the G-Lader is a joke as far as reliablility is concerned.

You just can't beat the throttle response of a tuned NA motor IMO.

I've put my money on the N2O (i.e. I've bought a kit).....just need a car to fit it to now. [:^:]

Each have their merits, so I'd go for a motor that has all 3 fitted:

Supercharger for bottom end stump-pulling torque, but hopefully a shade more resiliant that the G-lader - mebbe a merc one?

Turbo for that 'ooh baby' whoosh when the boost comes on.

Nitrous for the groovy little 'go faster' button you can use when you're on full boost and the Ferarri/Porsche/F16-Falcon is still getting away from you.

Realisticly, I'd fit the supercharger first, as I'm a lazy bugger and I don't like changing gears much.

Never driven a charged VW but found a 180bhp MKIV golf a very nice drive. Better than the standard anyway. Drove a cooper S the other week. Felt slow compared to the golf and other 'hot hatches' i.e. civic type-R and focus RS Of the lot the last 2 motors were most responsive and fun to drive. Never tried nitrous

    Turbo for me.

Couldn`t be arsed to get the nos filled up all the time (unless they start selling it at the fuel pumps!)

G60 chargers discounted due to the reliability issues.

supercharged for me. as i own one.

my brother has a mk4 golf 1.8 20vt, test drove it 2 days ago. and it felt slow compared to the g40(which is standard). although a nicer drive as its more of a comfort car. been in a uno turbo, which is slow.

although the potential power with the 1.8 20vt is amazing

    Where's the normally aspirated option?

Nice big fat 8v for me. (OR 12v v6 of course!)

    Cheers,

    Drew.

You just can't beat the sound of a supercharger on full chat, especially with the re-circ pipework removed so you get the wastegate whoosh that would put any dump valve to shame !!!

Well i obviously voted turbo. IMO the modern turbo setups can acheive practically f**k all lag, and tbh that would be my only grumble! I do so love the sound of a turbo screaming.

My vote would be none of the above. I like a well sorted N/A engine.

charger mainly cos i got one and i like the noise they make.

reliability isnt a problem, if you keep on top of the service intervals.

Obvious one really for me, Turbo - and yes, I do have one.
Been in a supercharged car, and I think you can't beat the kick of a turbo coming in.
Love the sound of a Turbo whistling on full boost (although the G60 does sound wicked as well !!)

    Difficult one.

If you want a car for everyday use, trammin around the countryside and motorway muncher... Supercharger.

If you want serious BHP.. turbo or turbos!

    MG :)
