    Chaps,

    I'll be replacing the pads and disks on the front of my stock 1991 8v GTi sometime very soon. ECP list the following pads on their site;

    Textar13.50p
    Gutman6.29p
    ATE9.99p

    And disks as follows;

    ATE13.95p
    Guttman 9.99p
    Textar26.00p.

    Which should I choose? Which is the best bang for the buck for normal road use, and is it worth splashing out more on the pricier bits?

    Or should I shop elsewhere and get other brands?

    Oh! And they are the cheapo ones as well!

    So, ATE pads and disks? (Being of the same manufacturer, they should work well together?)

    I have ATE on mine, had them on for about 2 months and i managed to warp the passenger side disc! I haven't even driven it that hard to be honest.

    Had ATE before and never had a problem with them, i must have just got a dodgy disc;)

    GTi69,

    Have you sent it back?

    If so, what was their after-sales service like?

    I presume that your first experience with them must have been good, in that you can buy them on a later occasion.

    I didn't take it back i put them in the garage and they got rusty otherwise i would have done!I got some more and put them on, they have been on for about 3 months now and i haven't had a problem with them at all.

    The aftersales service was spot on, i bought some front wishbones from them and they were crap, the hole for the bushes were too big so therefore useless. When i took them back and told the bloke he gave me my money back straight away and evenapologised, he said i could have 10% off the next thing i bought from them. I don't think you can get much more fair than that.

    I would definately use them again.

    When I took the Brake cylinder of my car, it had ATE stamped on it aswell as the VAG logo, so i would choose ATE, as it looks like they make stuff for VW anyway.

    Yeah aren't ATE an VW OEM supplier? I had the 'Powerdiscs' on my mk2...they lasted bloody ages :) I've only had good dealings with ECP but thats only coz a friend of mine works in the Birmingham branch ;)

    I have a set of Brembo standard replacement discs (which were 14 each +VAT)with Pagid FR pads.....seems to be a very good combo...if a little dusty :)
