Will standard vr6 clutch take the torque tho? Abf with charger and 260 hp will be very torquey low down
That's why I asked what charger would be giving that. Centrifugal chargers dont give lots of low down torque iirc. Think vr6 clutches can handle nearly 300ftlbs.
Yes. No Issue. At that peak rating I would not expect more than ~250lbft anywhere in the torque curve, which is no more than a VR6K at 8 psi.
thanks guys i am using a eaton M62 and Emerald management,62lb seimens injectors. will that clutch fit on a kr flywheel? as its in a mk2 valver.
no then, you need to either go rod shift to get a vr6 clutch in there. not sure what a 210mm sachs clutch can take but id suspect you need something better. but tbh, id expect 020 gearbox to blow up very quickly with that kind of power
The flywheel design as well as gearbox are different between later Corrado/Passat or ABF/VR6 vehicles vs early MK2 w/020 gearbox. So no. Regarding blowing up a 020 there is debate where this would type of gearbox would support the torque produced by a forced inducted engine. Some use this gearbox in 1.8T applications however the vehicle maybe a light MK1. Ratios for GTIs may not be suited to much more low down torque though usless the charger makes the torque peaky.
I spat a diff rivet out of my 020 16v gearbox but it put up with some serious abuse before it let go (used a 4 puck cerametalic clutch).
