    http://www.headbands.com/gspot/download.html

Well nearly every program under the sun can play *.avi's. However, depending on what it was encodeded with you might only hear sound etc.. (which im sure would be traumatising for you) in which case, you can download gspot (not as dodgy as it sounds :p) and it'll tell you what codecs you need to play the file

    DivX "Playa" is poor imo.

If your going to go that far, you may as well download Winamp5 and be done with it :p

    You need the XViD Codec.

    http://www.xvid.org/

'Corrupt AVI header' may need fixing too.

Sounds like you don't have the correct codec like ppl have said. .AVI is a file container that is used to store video and sound information. Within this container the infiormation can be stored in different formats. Video in uncompressed/divx/xvid/etc. Sound can be uncompressed/mp3/WMA/OGG/etc.

As for a player the BEST on i have found, i have nearly used them all, is BSPlayer BSPlayer.

To get the correct codecs go here it is the gordian knot codec pack and contains all the video and sound codec you will probably ever need for video playback

    Hope this helps

    goto videohelp.com

goto tools and then to the codecs section. Download ffdshow codec. This will play xvid, divx (all versions).

Once installed you should be able to play your avi in Media Player. Ffdshow has some nifty features for enhancing the image quality on the fly, which is nice but more involved.

As far as a different kind of player is concerned. By far the best and most configurable is zoomplayer. The bonus is that its free. You can get it from the tools section under 'video players'.

Any more help then let me know.

I know about such things
