2 questions... is it worth selling old bricks? as we took the brick garage down this weekend and now have about 930 of them, all clean and whole bricks.. I was going to use them but not so sure now

also we have a load of part bricks, cement, wood and metal to get rid off, a 8 cubic yard skip is 200, any other ideas? (trips to the tip with the small camping trailer is out as it will take forever!!!!)

Take a few out in the car with you any time you drive.

When someone tailgates aggressively, launch one out of the sunroof.

How about a nice herringbone garden path? Or an outdoor pizza oven/barbeque?

Someone may well want 'weathered' bricks for an extension or something..

Don't suppose you've got any interlocking roof tiles?

A local skip company i use takes all types of brick rubble for free, as they chip it up and use it for hardcore

you dont gain anything, but cheaper than a skip

Try freecycle, its a place where you give stuff away. i have managed to lose lots of baby stuff etc. also had a concrete garage from there.

An Architectural Salvage yard will definitely buy them if they are "weathered" - people want to put up extensions, utility rooms etc. without the new bricks standing out like a sore thumb. Show a pic of a few and give us a better idea of what they are like!

Really depends how old is old? 20years there near worthless, someone might buy them as cheap bricks but a reclaim yard wont want them taking up space, 100years and privately you might sell them for 40-50p a brick, reclaim yard might give you 20p-30p each, really depends on what sort of brick they are, thin tudor bricks can go for a fiver each!

As for getting rid of the rubbish, the metal shouldnt be hard any scrap man will have that even if its not much, wood burns, and can you not load the rubble into a estate car and take it to the tip? I lend my passat to all my mates in to do tip runs, insane what we can get in there even if the front wheels feel like they are lifting off the ground:lol:

the garage was built in the early 70s but mutches the house built in the mid 50s, Ill get a pic up later.

I keep coming back to the idea of the bbq, and doing the paths in block pave as we are re doing the garden next year and I want to get rid of the old concrete paths if I can.. it just means I have to store them some where out of the way so the wife doesnt moan..

as for getting rid of the wood and the left over rubble etc I have bitten the bullet and ordered a huge 8 cubic yard skip for 195 with a on road permit, as getting it on the drive will be tight and if its on the road it will pee off the grumpy old bloke who lives over the road! (in 6 months hes never spoken to us and parks his car in the way on purpose some times so its pay back)

Im tempted but don't really want to pig off the neighbours, as so far they all seem ok (bar the guy across the road) might save a few chunks for inters though as planning on bringing a fire pit for the camp site, as it was good last year with the camp fire...

also dont want to upset them as so far they all seem fine with the big garage thats planned (its 28M2, the limit for not needing planning permission is 30M2... so im right on the limit lol
