hi I am just about to buy a bora 2.0i 1999 its done 120k what should I look for its got a few probs remote central locking don't work you have to lock from passage side door a/c don't work needs regas
We picked up a 1999 2.0 8v beetle which shares the same engine and had problems with the lambda sensor, coil pack and ignition leads. Often they have running problems and low mpg due to an air leak in the vacuum system that can be solved by replacing a lot of the lines with some silicon tubing. We also has problems with the drivers door lock switch as the car would lock itself after 30 seconds or so even if you opened the drivers door as it couldn't recognise this; I believe this is common on the mk4 platform as they share the same door lock module.
