What wheels are "cool" these days?

Hi all, I could do with a little nudge in the right direction. I'm looking toward replacing the wheels on my Mk2 Golf. I've never really been happy with the ones that it came with as they look like they were won in a Xmas cracker. (16" Mille Miglia Action).
I'm now ready to buy a set 16x9 Borbet A's and make them fit, but feel that I may be too late for that trend because I keep seeing smaller, wide wheels on Dubs. (Driven by much younger people, I might add  )
I know that there is no right or wrong and a lot is personal choice, but I would appreciate a few opinions [:D]

See what I mean about the rims? I still keep expecting X-zibit to jump out and tell me I've been pimped, lol.

Hi, thanks for that. They were all on my shopping list, but I was under the impression that smaller, wide wheels were coming back? Am I imagining things?

attempting to be 'cool' is heroicly sad imo.

do what YOU like, fit the wheels that you actually like on your car, not what others say are 'cool' lol

id say OZ F1s tho lol

The 'Euro' look which is 'current' (so they say), is to go with wide 13" rims and lower the car as much as possible. But you'd need air ride to do it properly.

I think 15" is a good size, anything over is a bit OTT IMO. I like ATS cups.

yup. im not keen on 'phat rimz'. simple designs, imo are the best, and of course they have to be light.

i nearly brought some Radius R2s not long ago, but theyd probably weigh a ton compared to my 15" BBSs

my personal taste is 15's or 16's, with a dish, and unusual - not many people have. then i would look at getting them personalised - polished/chromed painted etc.

13, 14 or 15s... wider the better (must have deep dish).. i think 16s look maxpower apart from the odd person who can get away with it

my fave wheels are ATS cups

Defently a good list of wheels there!

If you like the Borbets stick them on and make it work, it will be worth it! ;)

Thanks for the opinions, I was pretty much set on my original choice. I had some deep dish rims on my bug about 12 yrs ago, and loved them. I was expecting eveyone to scream 13's but thankfully it seems to be a bit of a show car thing, even so I'd have only dropped to about 14 or 15" for my car, lol.
    Thanks again :)

13s would limit your brake size a lot... stick to 15s... tyres are cheap that way too [:D]

Good point, I've got 280mm brakes so 15's would be the smallest I could go anyway (and I'm certainly not changing those back to standard!)

It's good to see that you've found the pills marked "happy" again

Cant beat the original 15" BBS RZ, RM, RS etc in my opinion, they were made to suit the mk2's and with some wider outers they look [8D]

DarrenK's car is a nice example and the same colour as yours.

I'm whacking my BBS RA's up on e-bay this summer to fund some split rims. Anything with a nice big dish looks superb on a dub imo, but as said before, its down to personal preference.
