Anyone have any experiance with high boost/power levels and S3 (apy) engines with uprated rods.

i'm about to put a t25 gt2871r in my golf and would like to know how much i can wind it up before the pistons and valves go bang:)

Standard engine squeaky bum time is around 300 lb-ft of torque. Anything more than that and rods start bending/snapping.

If you're uprating internals, no idea. Badger5 on here regularly runs 500+bhp with a bigger turbo.

rods are the weak point hence the uprated items but there must be a limit to what the pistons will take?

as long as you don't under fuel you'll be ok for 300+ bhp

my engine that i bought was running 350bhp stock internals

Just a thought - valves are next to go after rods I think. Depending on your plans, it may be worth checking the limits on these.

all down to how lucky you are feeling.
rods and valves... 1.8t's weakness when pushing higher power

I had 320bhp when I bent rod number 1(I was giving it some though). Don't take any risks if you can afford it. I now have pauter rods, one piece valves and JE pistons - just to be safe. ;)
