Anyone have any experiance with high boost/power levels and S3 (apy) engines with uprated rods. i'm about to put a t25 gt2871r in my golf and would like to know how much i can wind it up before the pistons and valves go bang
plus theres a guy on vortex with a GT35 on a stock engine and stock clutch running over 500hp, wont last long though but funny
Standard engine squeaky bum time is around 300 lb-ft of torque. Anything more than that and rods start bending/snapping. If you're uprating internals, no idea. Badger5 on here regularly runs 500+bhp with a bigger turbo.
rods are the weak point hence the uprated items but there must be a limit to what the pistons will take?
as long as you don't under fuel you'll be ok for 300+ bhp my engine that i bought was running 350bhp stock internals
Just a thought - valves are next to go after rods I think. Depending on your plans, it may be worth checking the limits on these.
a friend of mine has a s3 which has the full mtm conversion engine and internals totaly standard and its been running 360bhp for the last 60000miles no problems.and the cars been to the ring the yoke gets driven hard.boost peeks at 1.8bar
I had 320bhp when I bent rod number 1(I was giving it some though). Don't take any risks if you can afford it. I now have pauter rods, one piece valves and JE pistons - just to be safe.
