I have standard alloys on my mk2 gti. wheels are in good nick but it is impossible to remove them from the car. there is a cap covering the wheel nuts which is locked by a bolt thingy. the key has been lost and the bolts are too old and worn to use an allen key.

short of drilling them, how can I get them off?

I think that I will need to buy new bolts and possibly new caps - are they still available?

get a fractionally too small socket and hammer it on to the bolt. That should work.

Hi, I tried that and the socket damaged the wheel cap. so I sprayed wd40 around the bolts and left it to soak and them hammered in a screw driver at an angle until the bolts could be undone with fingers. done the trick
