Could someone please give me a bit of info on wheel spacers please. Basically what they are how they work [:$] and where from? Are they safe?

I have a set of RMs which I was going to make wider but its looking rather expensive so Im thinking maybe this is going to be a cheaper way to get my wheels to look phater (fill a g60 arch!) ;) Standard RMs are 6.5 but I want the look of at least a 7.5 is this possible using spacers or should I stick to my orginal plans?

    Cheers

Just phoned JBS Autos and they can do me 30mm (15mm each side) Eibach Spacers for 65 a pair. Excluding bolts. Can anyone recommend any others I was really looking for 20mm spacers. [8D]

You need longer wheel nuts and they affect the geometry of the suspension. If you do fit them, make sure you get it all set up by someone who knows what they are doing.

when i did mine i got the hubcentric ones.....you dont have to bolt them on to anything they sit on the hub. i then got longer wheel bolts. 20mm longer if your using 20mm spacers.

simple job....just make sure you get hubcentric.....you'll know they are coz they go for over 100 new where as spacers go for about 50. if you just get spacers the wheel is only held on by the bolts and none of the weight of the car is taken on the hub.

didnt have to adjusted my suspension, balance my wheels or anything. the car seems to handle a little better with the wider track

Im afraid if i was going to get spacers i would not be gettin ones that need longer wheel bolts.

I would be buying ones like my H+R adaptors that bolt to the hub first then the wheel bolts to them. Much safer in my opinion. Check out Motorsport Wheels.

On such adaptors your new bolts will only go into the adaptor itself.

i got 19mm OMP ones from Rally Design which are hub centric and come with a handy little bolt to secure them them to the hub thro the brake disc. (much less fiddly to fit and change wheels) they are about 40 for a pair but you'll need longer bolts which you can also get from rally design, think there about 80p each ish. I didn't thou' cos i converted to studs at the same time!!!!

My wheels are RMs 6.5" et33. I think I'm gonna go for the H&R ones.......if I can find some! (anyone got a link or number?)

I don't mind paying a little extra for quality ones. I did find these which are basically what JBS can supply me......what do ya reckon people? Are these hubcentric? [:s]
