    Hi,

I am putting an APY engine from an S3 into my MK2,
I have just about woked out how everything works, but need to know where these pipes go, as whoever took the engine out has cut/unplugged them.

    1. Metal pipe (water?) that connects to RHS of head next to main water outlet
    2. Metal pipe on LHS of inlet manifold
    3. Metal Pipe (water) that runs under inlet manifold
    4. Rubber pipe that runs round LHS of engine and connects to metal pipe into turbo
    5. Two small connections to bottow of inlet manifold
    6. Pipe on top of FPR (not labelled)

    1. No idea
    2. I think is connected to brake servo somehow
    3. Water return from turbo?
    4. Connect to 3?

I have also made a colour code to all the wires in the APY engine loom, I will post it in electrical, but the link to the spreadsheet is here.

I don't know what some of the connectors are, so if someone can tell me what connections i'm missing then that would be great!

    thanks,
    Oli.

    pipes

1 possibly for the heater matrix cant see very well
    2 servo
    3 connect to number 4
    4 connect to number 3
    5 fpr and map sensor
6 vacume pipe goes to botton off inlet the 2 you mentioned the other is for map sensor

hope this helps someone else may know number 1

1 Is something to do with idle stabilisation, block off at source
3 does not connect to 4, 3 goes to resevoir
4 goes to electric pump for turbo

    Thanks!

1 not heater matrix, found that one already. This is a metal pipe that comes out of a metal flange bolted on the side of the head right next to the plastic water flange, I think it is for water and I don't think idle stabilisation could connect there. is it the other end of where the electric water pump goes?

    2. do i need a vacuum reservoir between the check valve and the servo? or can i just plug the servo and check valve from the KR straight into the manifold?

    4. do i need to find a water pump for the turbo then? and find some way of making it run on after the engine stops?

    Thanks,
    Oli.

For the servo you'll need a turbo check valve otherwise the pressure will go past a na check valve and apply the brakes for you.

    thanks mr purple,

so i need a check valve from another turbo car. do i need a some kind of vacuum reservoir? or does the servo hold enough vacuum for when i hit the brakes after coming off the power?

do i need a water pump for the turbo aswell?

any ideas what the metal pipe on the right of the head is for?

    thanks,
    Oli.

You don't need a vacuum reservoir, you will need the pump for the turbo, take another picture of where the metal pipe goes (i.e. where it enters the head)
