    got my comps,

only question is now where shal i put them? (mk2 standard dash).

the jbls i got have a good tube thing they screw into and then allo you to move the tweeters to a direction which is good but the tube is quite long.

show me some pics of your tweeters so i can get some ideas!

    cheers

tweeters in dash holes, but should really be within 6" of the Mid/bass speaker.

tweeters will be fine as long as positioned in front of you doesn't matter if there a distance from the mids as long as there to the correct side and in front of you so standard places are best and also more stealthy

I mounted my Infinity tweeters pointing straight up in a piece of MDF cut to the same shape as the original dash speakers. These were then screwed down into the standard speaker hole. The covers then fit back on giving a factory look.

They sound good to me - think they must bounce off the windscreen, and I don't notice any odd results from having the mids mounted (again in MDF) in the door pockets.

    :)

I've just bought some 5" JBL components. Probably the same as yours and I have the same mounts.

As I have electric windows I've put them in the place where the winder handle would go.

Perfect fit and within 6" of the mid range.

Not bad sound running off just the head unit!

Forgot to say this was in my MK2!!

I put my sony tweeters with built in crossovers where the manual window winders should be, seem to sound good from there and easier to wire in! can anyone suggest any decent 13cm speakers for the doors as i am not impressed with Sony xplods?

I'll probably get slated for saying this but JBL are excellent value for money.

I paid 55 for my components from Motor World (60 from CAD)

They're decent sound just off my Alpine head unit and have a rating of 55RMS compared to Alpine's model in that budget range of 30RMS

Will prob. sound loads better when I get an amp!!

I've just installed some 5.25" JBL Components in my Mk2 at the weekend.

I put the mids in the door speaker pods, and modified the original Nokia dash speakers, i.e. butchered a circular hole in them, and placed the tweeters in there. So everything still looks factory fitted, but sounds a lot better!

Well happy with the result, especially for the money. Although mine are amped up - not sure what they'd sound like direct from HU.

    Regards, Matt

Well the end result was very good!

i was getting my windscreen replaced by a mate so when the screen was out i went to town on the tweeters!

i took out the old crap things in the dash, i then got the card box which my tweeters came in and drew round the old speakers to make a template.... then i made a hole in the template for the tewwters, then used the jbl fitment to screw the tweeters into the template, then screwed it into the old position!

    nice and tight fit!

havnt actually tried them yet lol.

next question is where to put the cross over unit?!?!?!

    cheers!
