Hi, in the CL that I'm selling I've got some 13cm Kenwood component speakers in the front. They were about 110 6 or 7 years ago. Has the quality of 13cm components got much better since? As I could take these out & put them in my new '91 16v. If it's better to go for new ones, which one's are best. I've got 130 max, but the cheaper a decent pair are, the better!

    My 'shortlist' is as follows:

    Alpine SXS 1357 frequency 80-22,000khz - costing around 60.

    Focal 130A frequency 65-20,000khz - costing around 130.

    Infinity Reference 5000CS frequency ? - costing around 75.
    Infinity Reference 5010CS frequency 67-21,000khz - costing around 115.
    Infinity Kappa 50.5CS frequency 55-21,000khz - costing around 100.

    Kenwood KFC P505 frequency 25-40,000khz - costing around 55.
    Kenwood KFC 1300P frequency 40-30,000khz - costing around 100.
Kenwood KFC PSR 51P frequency 40-70,000khz - costing around 90.

Phoenix Gold RS.0 Comp frequency 60-24,000khz - costing around 95.

    Pioneer TS-H1303 frequency 40-20,000khz - costing around 60.
    Pioneer TS-E136C frequency 40-32,000khz - costing around 73.
    Pioneer TS-C11300R frequency 35-32,000 - costing around 140.

    Vibe SA50 frequency 60-20,000 - costing around 70.

So which are best? I would like some bass in the front as well. Some such as Alpine's are meant to be very good, but seem a bit light on bass, going by the frequency response. Do you really need an amp as well as the in-built one on the head unit to get more bass?

With I guess as it says component speakers and no mention of there being seperate mids or tweeters. They are 100 at Car audio security.

DLS have recently changed distributors so their stock isn't being sold
at online the moment, but try to find some DLS R5a components on
ebay. The midbass is pretty strong for 13's, and the tweeters are
very revealing. Or perhaps some crystal components, as they're
fairly good too. Not the same quality as the DLS though.
The DLS are only bettered by my rainbows pro's (but they were 350 a
couple of years back). Any components should be run from a
separate amp.... you're wasting your money if you run comps off the
headunit. Th more power the better. What I do is buy a
second hand 4 channel amp (ebay is your friend) and bridge it, so
you've got plenty of headroom. Just be sensible witht hegain
control and things with sound much cleaner at high volume, without
blowing the speakers. Also try to avoid the cheaper components
around 100 as they're not very good value.

Just bought a 4 channel Alpine amp from ebay!

How much do those DLS one's go for? I've heard some people say they like Focal's. What do you reckon of those compared to the Infinity one's?
