do eibach do both sizes? (both mkII and mkIII?)

i know neuspeed are better (but at twice the cost) as the rear bar is adjustable.

You don't need any mate; honest.

Same car without ARB's. I lowered it 60/40mm front/rear using H&R cup kit. The front is so solid that I am confident enough to throw it into a corner without the concern of losing it.

After all, the 1.6 doesn't produce much grunt unless you have modded the engine?

Also make sure you can attach the bars to the axle beams as the driver doesn't have any attachment parts for ARB's!

I was thinkin of fitting some to mine as ive done all the suspention gas shocks and new springs, it is alot better but does seem to have a bit of body role.

Cud i just buy a gti one?

    A GTI what?

If its ARB's, it seriously isn't worth it. The front standard ARB are a bugger to get on and off vehicles of this age without sheering off all the attachment bolts. The rear ARB is part of the rear axle beam which will mean sw*pping the GTI one with yours. That's quite a tough job as you would need to change things like the bushes.

In this case aftermarket ARB's would be a better idea.

In any case if you have only a little body roll, would a strut brace be a better option?

Strut brace won't do jack for roll but would shore up your chassis flex.

Strut braces are different to anti-roll bars!

    Strut braces look quite nice!

Strut brace more ornamental on some cars but for most you will prevent your front turrets flexing which means your suspension can work better and provide you sharper steering. That's the aim at least.

So has anyone had the problem where the subframe bolts shear off? How did you sort it? Just planning ahead for the worst case scenario...

yeah, dead common fault, the rear subframe bolt shears off inside the chassis leg and requires the floor to be cut open in order to either weld the nut back on, or to fit a new one.

It is a VERY common problem, and not one to assume wont happen!!

Hope mine doesnt shear then! My F plate GTi was pretty rusty and they came out with ease. My J plate is mint compared to it, so with any luck they should come out fine.. (i hope) [:s]

Might have a go at them before I order ARB's.

I have just had the whole front sub frame off and dismantled off my 212k miles 89 golf without so much as a stripped thread.

The front ARB is easy to whip off and replace, a GTi one would be a sensible and cheap upgrade.
Rear one would need a bit more effort.

I have a pair of both with a rear beam assembly that are sitting in my garage...just out of interest of course ;)
