Hey Guys.. I have currently run into a problem i hoped you could help me with Im building a MK1 1,8 Gti from 83 (original DX engine i think) Its gonne be fittet with a KR engine in stead and my plan was ITBs The problem is that in Denmark where i live its not legal to fir a programmable ECU on your car, Is it even possible to run ITBs without a programmable ECU? Currently i have only got the old original ECU from the dx engine idk if i can use that for anything.. maybe use the case to build in a MS ECU Would a newer engine be able to run ITB? like for say a ABF /Sren G Denmark
I have an ABF in my Mk1 Golf, I'm using a DTA S40 ecu. An abf ecu can't be used to run itb's. Have you asked about this on any Danish forums, there must be some way around this?
Ive been looking around.. seems like a lot of people does it anyway. Even tho its not legal they have succes getting them through emission tests.
DX Engines don't have an ECU on any that I've seen. If you hid the ECU under the dash, how is anyone going to know how it's controlled? You could run a KR on just the regular KR ECU and a single plenum manifold, which would be fine if it's being used on the road. If you're going for competition use it's not a great solution.
