Should be the same, though best to check with someone with ETKA. Dont think it comes with with rocker cover gasket, but just get a rubber one for a Mk2 from VAG as they are cheaper than GSF.

yeah thats the the thing, but they head bolts straight onto the 2litre 8v bottom end.
basically i need to know if you buy the head set with regards to the bottom end or with regards to the head?

    Sorry Rags, dumb moment,

Would imagine that you need the 2l head gasket set for a Mk3 2l engine, though this is my opinion based upon assumption, so probably best to wait until someone who knows what the f**k they are talking about. ;)

    all input is good...

but i phoned GSF just now and according to Joe Bloggs on the blower, they sell a kit that caters for mk2/mk3 bottom end and head combinations.

    We will see!

does the 2.0 engine run the same compression as the 1.8? you'd be best off deciding based on gasket thickness IMHO.

    Depends on the bore size.

I have a 2l rebored valver. The bores are now 82.5mm. The standard gasket bores are 83mm so its works fine.
