1st of all guys am not clued up on carb setups so bare with me! lol. currently running a mk2 '92 8v gti, thinkin of going for a 2 litre bottom end in the near future or possibly 2 litre 16v motor. if i ran the 2 litre 8v on carbs i was told a crossflow head is better so the carbs sit at the front, obviously at the back there sucking in warm air n could cause problems being above the exhaust. is this correct and what cars would i get the head off? also, what power, fors/againsts are there etc.? would i just be better off with the abf motor to start with? cheers
A crossflow conversion is more work than a 16v lump. Any particular reason why you want to stay 8v? If not, find an ABF and stick that in, running the ABF injection.
well no reason to stay 8v chaps, just wasnt really sure on how easy the abf conversion would be? ide really like the abf on carbs but what sort of prices/performance we lookin at? cheers so far fellas
160ish BHP with a stock ABF conversion...more available quite easily. Steer clear of carbs on a road car, IMHO.
I think there may be some members threads (projects) that have done the same... well from my memory any way!
