    Like the thread says really.
I'm looking at fitting one as the bolt which holds the airbox on is broke and the bolt at the front of the rocker cover bracket to airbox had broken off too.
Don't care enough to fix it so sod it.
Anyone want to share which K&N kit they used to fit on it?:)

    Car is Mk1 convertible.

I used the one they sell for the pierberg, but had to drill another hole and blank one off.

The top airbox bolt is just a Z shaped bracket - could you not construct a new one? I don't have the front bracket on mine but the airbox sits fine still (i've gone back to standard).

What sort of problems would you get in the winter with one of those? Will it be even worse for carb icing?

I would say it would be just like normal when cold but rubarb when hot, as it will ALWAYS be in the hot air of the engine bay, thus after 5 mins it would be ok but i would say after 15/20 it wouldnt be that good, could be wrong thou as im working on air temp

I used to have no end of problems last winter with my carb icing up. Cold days wern't that bad, but cold AND damp days were an absolute nightmare!

So, I use K&N in the summer, and the standard airbox with hot air tube in the winter[:D]

What have yo done with the fuel swirl pot that lives on top of the fron airbox bracket?

Good question that. Surely lots of extra stress on the float/valve without a fuel return?

On my second weber now and ditched the swirl pot on both ocassions, in fact the advice from a lot of tuning companies is just to T-piece the return line and restrict the flow(old idle jet!) in fact I've seen a couple of roccos with the Return just crimped off!:o . Far as I am led to believe it only really becomes an issue when you up the pressure from an electric pump etc

    Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I suppose from my point of view a more relevant question would be, where was it in the first place?[:s]
May go grab one from a scrappy tomorrow and see if it makes it run any smoother.

That may explain a bit, I was wondering why there was no fuel return line.

So I went and got a K&N and fitted it, and all is good in the world. Had to fit a horrible breather unit too.

Apart from, what did you guys do with the vacuum line on the back of the carb that used to run to the air box to control the flap? Does it need blanking off?

Yeah it needs blanking. Cut a short length of vacuum pipe (3 inches) and block its end with a screw.
