which mk3 20vt conversion gearbox?

    which gearbox do ppl use for their mk3 20vt conversins and why? I've been planning on getting a mk3 16v 02a CDA but not too sure now someone told me it will run our of gears pretty quick?

    CTN is a good box but a CDA/DPA will be fine

    Yeah I checked the transmission FAQ but hats not really what I meant, sorry I wasn't very clear.
    I meant how do the mk3 box's compare to the mk4 ones like the 02j (I think its a straight swap for the mk3 one?)

    You asked the same question on the other forum. If using an 02j you will have to use an 02j gear shift. If you have an 02A, you will need an 02A shifter unless you want to use the 02j shifter where tou will need an 02J shift tower in the 02A box.

    Indeed I did, cheers for the replys on both :)

    Can I use the mk3 8v GTi 020 shifter on a 16v GTi 02A? I know the 8v is cable but I got that sorted with 16v hydraulic cylinders

    An 020 shifter wont work on an 02A. 020 is rod change not cable

    sorry i meant clutch was cable not the shifter ,was getting myself confused!

    What do i need to change to get the 02a into an 8v then?

    You will need a mk3 16v or corrado G60 shifter and fit that into the tunnel. Are yo changinging to a hydro clutch?

    ah ok cheers i'll add that to my shopping list :)

    for the clutch yeah I got the 16v master and slave cylinders and been told I just need to plumb them into the brake servo
