Hi everyone, I am having my Golf privately serviced (well at my better halfs garage actually lol) and wondered what was the best oil to use? I have read so many different things that I am confused now!! Castrol website states edge 5w 30 (pricey), but have now been advised that magnatec would be good if not better as my engine has just crossed the 100,000 mile mark!! It is a 1999 Golf gti turbo 1.8. Any advice without further confusion would be appreiated ) Thanks Fiona x
As long as its 5w30 it should be fine I used the Halfords 5w30 fully synth when i last changed the oil on my Mk4 and its been fine. Wasn't too expensive either.
