The Panasonic one pictured in the "retro stereo" thread was fitted in my jetta (1990 small bumpered GTi) when I bought it 2 1/2 years ago!
I've just dug it out of the loft...it has the model number: 035VAG144,
    Ref Number:CQ-D50FNV
Pull out too!!! How retro is that?!!

I've got the original stereo from my 91 mk2 8V - it's up at my mum and dad's somewhere.

I'll get my old man to dig it out and get the part number from it....it was a pull out too - coooool!

Pull outs were very common around 1990!
This is because heroin was also very popular around this time:lol:
    (especially in Manchester!)
Now I've dug the old Panasonic out of the loft I think I'll test it and put it on ebay(thats if I can find any cassettes!! )

this question again,it bugged me the last time because in 1988 to 1992 i used to fit them for pdi's and for the life in me cant remember [:x] as mentioned the pull outs were common but there were lots of different types or radio fit in those four years
panasonic 825 springs to mind, blaupunkt montreall, and various pioneer(5000 and 5200 spring to mind but poss not standard ,im off to retro stereo :)

It's a pull out Blaupunkt Cambridge SQM26 to be precise. And that is original as I've known this motor since new. Rather annoyingly this model only has 2 outputs so you can choose either front or back speakers.
