Hi does anyone have any recommendations for spark plugs I've always used bosch super 4's on my previous two 16v's apparently these tend to cause arcing inside the dizzy cap which i have to admit I did used to get, I've currently got Bosch superplus plug's in at the moment but even after checking the gap's the car has never felt quite right since fitting them, are Iridium plugs worth the outlay as ideally I don't want to fork out 40 odd quid on spark plugs
When running a 9A (Corrado 16v) I used the Bosch Super4 without issue, then changed to NGK BKUR 7ET again without issue. The NGK site below lists the BCP 7ET as standard for the KR 16v and BKR 7EIX Iridium as an upgrade. I buy my (non VW) Iridium plugs from Driven2automotive as they are half the price of some others, see link below for yours ... 27.44 delivered. See also `other` link for price comparison to standard plug and Iridium. I was recommended NGK by a guy that worked with Champion Apologies for the `essay` but ... use Iridium !!! http://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/car_...model=GOLF%20MK2%20%2884--%3E91%29&engine=1.8 http://www.driven2automotive.com/se...ay=desc&search_query=bkr7eix&submit_search=OK http://www.gsparkplug.com/shop/ngk-bcp7et.html
What? I'd love to hear the theory behind that. Sounds very made up to me. lol Probably from someone who thinks a four-electrode plug gives four sparks.
standard beru z52 or whatever the equivalent std fit bosch or ngk is all you need, no need to mess about with super 4s or other 'upgraded' plugs they wont offer any benefit
