I have a mk2 8v, well two ofthem actually. one of them has a whining noise coming from the bay when being driven.its dfo speed raleted as it does it even if its coasting. At a dead 70mph the revs are sitting at 3600rpm, where as on my other 8valve they sit at a more comfy 3200. I'm thinkin it may be the diff in the gearbox on its way out. Any ideas on what the noise is and why there is a difference in the revs would be appreciated.
As a cheap trial, drail the gearbox, and refill with semi syth 75w/90w gear oil, and re-try!! Dont sound good
