Hello all. I have had my Mk2 J reg gti 8 valve for around seven months now and in the last few months I have noticed that the gearbox has started to whine when in second gear. It is fine and quiet in all other gears and the gearchange is precise and with no crunching or stiffness. My car has done 166,000 with full VW service history and the gear linkage was redone at the main dealer recently. Any ideas if it can be cured? Cheer Cymraeggti
Mine does it a bit as well, all I can suggest is you drain the oil & refill with 2 quarts of redline mtl, if that dont cure it the box will need to be rebuilt. I just put up with it, it doesnt mean the box is about to die or anything
