Why are my front wheels turning in neutral?

    One thing after a-bloody-nother.

My car's up on stands and the wheels are off and I've noticed that they're turning in neutral. If I rev it in neutral they spin faster... that's not normal?

    Apparently it's normal???

They spin very slowly and with little force - not enough force to actually turn the wheels with the car on the ground and with wheels on.

Can I re-polish my wheels easier if I jack the front of the car up and leave it spinning the wheels in 1st?:)

Put it this way - I could stop the discs spinning using my hands with very little pressure. [:p]

I can see many trips to the hospital with broken/severed fingers/hands in due course. [><]

I've just realised the sheer stupidity of my idea to do this with the tyres on and valves in.[:$]

    020 box

If the 020 box has been rebuilt and the middle (sized) circlip is too thick, then you get drag due to insufficient endfloat on 1st gear when all the gears are in neutral. Its happened to me, and you only need to be out by two sizes. ie 2 sizes too thick

What an idiot (guy in the pic).

"Each picture is worth a thousand words, and about 15 mins of work. Enjoy".

I could only think of one or two words but they would get me banned  .

I don't follow what you mean there.... the only circlip that is adjustable in size would be 3rd gear on the output shaft, and the specs are to fit the largest in you can manage. The rest of it is not adjustable, and there are no specs for 1st gear end float.
