... a kick of the gas pedal to start properly? if I let it start on it's own, it takes 8-10 or even more spins to start up, and runs rough for a couple of seconds (even sounds like 3 pistons running). this only happens when the engine is cold (when it's warm it stars normaly)
the engine is a 2.0 8v digifant with 268 cam and 4 branch

When did you change the plugs, leads, dizi cap, fuel filter airfilter etc...?

Any other symptoms whilst driving? stalling, dropping a cylinder etc etc.

    Does the fuel pump whine?

Have you had the car set up since having the cam fitted?

How long has the car been doing this? since the cold weather? or over the summer?

no other simptoms, the car runs ok after the "kick start"

i haven't listened to the fuel pump recently, will try it.

when I fitted the cam, I only did the timing. I have a topic here. now I'm running standard timing, it works ok.

the engine does it whether hot or cold outside, doesn't matter.

Does it use any water over time?

How many miles have you done since you fitted the cam?

How old is the blue temp sender? However, if it runs right, and returns reasonable MPG (35ish on that spec?) then I wouldn't worry about it.

    it doesn't use water.

i've done 1000+ miles since the cam has been fitted.

the blue temp sender is about 2 years old (since the 1.8 era), but it's not vw orginal. and the mpg is not really that great... from what I've been driving around, my best consumption would be 30mpg. the values I sayd in the previous topic were from the onboard computer, which is obviously wrong.

I recently went to a garage and measured my CO emission. it was about 5-6 instead of the normal 1.8-2 (at idle speed)

replace the blue temp sensor, i had exactly the same issue with a duff one. The pattern sensors are rubbish, gen VAG one is around 13
