    Hi Dave,

I bought the helicoil new as a set off ebay.. branded 'Neilson' everything included.. And i bought some Clarke cutting fluid.

I used the cutting fluid drilling and tapping giving the bits a good clean after each use.. When i started the tap i stood back to make sure it looked square before continuing..

I'm not sure i know what you mean outer sleave?? this is what i got in the kit..

Just been out again.. tried putting a bolt in it, the helicoil size and tighten up a few times.. like this

    No Joy..

I'm lost for ideas??? Already one hole fubard :(

Been looking at insert sleaves.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270981606...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648

What to you reakon to drilling my head out to say 9.8mm or less?? Freezing these inserts and dropping them in there? when they expand they be nice and tight?? looks like enough room?..

Edit: Sorry.. didnt get your picture before.. i think i must of got a cheapy :(

Hi mate, not alot of hope for the helis by the sounds of it : ( the stepped studs is a good idea.. i'll look into them before getting someone to plug and weld inserts.. which i'd prob be better off getting a new head! ha ha : (

The insert things was just something i spotted having a look for ideas..

I've noticed looking closer at the kit that the drill bit might be bent?? bit hard to tell with the spiral.. Would that cause the problem do you think?? Really wish i completed just one hole before moving on : (

Finish me brew then have another go in a mo.. hope it miraculously all works after a sleep!?

Open to any other sugestions before the head goes in the bin and another year is added to the build!

Ok.. calmed down now : ).. I came across a couple more solutions if anyone's in this predicament in the future...

Timeserts.. which sound like the dogs dangles.. but a lot of money for the kit and need special tools.. Problem is i dont think the external thread is big enough to sort my mess..

    and

Keenserts.. which use cams to lock off and a bit better priced but still need special tool, the external thread is m10 so just a case of tapping out again..

both can be found from here...

The chap was very helpful on the phone :)

But i've had a wonder round town today, no fastener places have heard of these... In the end i went to an engineering place and their going to do me a load of stepped studs M10-M6.. and lend me the stuff to re-tap.. :)

Thanx for the idea on that one Dave
