i dont know anyone who has to pay as much as me on my insurance. i know i should be expecting it quite high, as im 17 with no ncd. but 2200 for a robin reliant? thats takin the p!ss really. i cant really seem to get any cheaper quotes than that for any car at all. ive heard its something to do with the area i live in, as someone told me its the worst in birmingham for car crime. but i wouldnt have thought that it would have affected it that much Edited by: lathamescortmk2
robin reliant ain't the cheapest to insure. plus the fact you a student and you're 17 and you've no NCD that's why
i mentioned that, but at 2200, surely thats a bit steep for a 850cc, i insured my fiesta for 1350 for 6 months. did i mention i have pass plus aswell, the car was garaged, it had immob/alarm aswell.
M<y Driving instructr told me that Pass Plus wasn't worth it, mind you that was a few years ago.. Only certain companies will take it into consideration. Plus i would have thought youre more likely to have a crash in a car with 3 wheels.... i know i did
the robin reliant was used as an example, i dont actually need insurance at the mo, cos i will soon be on a classic policy for my mk2 escy for 650 a year fully comp. but if i still want to know why private insurance is so high
I'll tell you why its is high. Cos tesco is poo. You need to ring EVERY single insurance number you can find and then you get them competing against them selves. Try here this should get you a resonably low quote to start with I spent 4 hours on the phone todiferent insurance companies and got mine down from 3000 to 999.50
i tried quite a few, but to no avail, i found that tesco nad direct line seemed the cheapest. anyway thanks for the advice
liverpoolvictoria.com (co.uk?) for young drivers small cars elephant for young drivers with big cars (only if youve been driving 1 year+) i got quoted 13000 (yes 13k) for my valver im paying 1400 for it worst quote i got for my 1.3 was 3118 i payed 960ish in the end
maybe its the car whats the insurance on a 1l polo. It seems stupidly overpriced. try and find which cars are in insurance group 1 and 2. You may have to get one of those. maybe the compaies dont like the car cos its only 3 wheels. Try a motorbike insurer, although this wont give you no claims on a car. Also try chris knott this is the company i am with and they WILL beat your lowest quote but you do have to get a low quote first. Also have you tried adrian flux as they were nearly cheap. I definatly think that it might be the car thats causeing the trouble, get a price on a "normal" 4 wheel 1L car. Also a high excess will reduce your price. I saw in the pic that the excess is ZERO you prob will have to have one of 300 to 500 to get a resaonable quote
If you put a voluntary excess on it, it will bring down the level of the quotes you're getting. Don't bother using search engines to get quotes, actually call insurers and talk to them, you can usually talk yourself a discount.
I got a really good quote from direct line and i`m 18, 0 NCB etc. Just do multiple quotes on their online quotation, occasionally it comes out with a silly low one then you just save it and they have to give it to you.
i have tried all the companies mentioned, i have phoned, gone under someone elses name, raised the excess to 1000, gone fully comp, tp and tpft. and the cheapest i think i ever got, was 1800 and a group 1 fiat panda. ps footman james fo classic car insurance on people under 21 if its in anything less that a classic car insurance group 3
