WHY MY VW GOLF MK3 VR6 1GEAR CRUNCH?

    THIS PROBLEM ALREADY BOTHER ME FOR SO LONG I DON'T KNOW WHAT WRONG WITH MY VR6 EVERY TIME I TRY TO ENTER 1st GEAR SURE THERE IS A CRUNCH NOISE IF I ENTER 2nd FIRST THAN TO 1st GEAR IS FIND WHY?PLEASE HELP?

    A few more details would be nice? Like is the car warm when this happens? How long has this been happening? Etc..

    Sorry for delay to reply,myvr6 1st gear crunch noise happen all the while whether the engine hot or cool the 1st gear still crunch but if i enter 2nd gear than go to 1st gear no more crunch noise please assist.

    Hi!Sorry for my not proper grammar i will try to improve,back to my vr6 1st gear crunch noise it happen all the time whether the vr6 engine cool or warm up the 1st gear sure with crunch noise but if i enter 2nd gear than to 1st gear no more noise why please assist?Thank You.

    It will be the syncro on 1st gear that has failed, that is why it crunches

    Any change to cure the 1st gear crunch noise by changing to better gear oil?If yes please advise which gear oil?Thank You.

    Changing the box oil may help, but its unlikely to be honest, the only real cure is a rebuild for the gearbox

    Don't know whether worn gearbox mounting can cause 1st gear crunch noise?I saw one of the topic from vwvortex forum one of the member vr6 has the similar problem like my vr6 by changing the gearbox mounting solve the problem!
