    interesting to note that belts wouldnt have made all the difference

    the pair of them seem to be thrown sideways into each other - something the belt couldnt stop.

    But the seatbelts might of locked up and held them in place a little better..

    but seat belts are not designed to reduce lateral movement, only fore aft movement as experienced when you're rear ended.

    if he thought he was a wannabee rally driver, he should have installed race harnesses

    The lap strap would have held their butts in the seat though so they wouldn't have moved so far.
