why why why why why! 3 companies, 4 quotes so far Admiral insurance: all mods declared but not covered - 408 FC 12 month policy Greenlight insurance: all mods declared, like for like replacement(?) - 770 FC. specialists my ass. Adrian Flux: all mods declared on like for like replacement - last month's quote 375, this month 570!!! 400 difference between greenlight and adrian flux... called greenlight again after saying i never would after some terrible customer service, but how can adrian flux possibly go up 200 just over a month down the line when no details have changed?!?!?
Different hamster powering the random number generator? I've long thought it was appalling that an industry you are required by law to buy from is entirely self regulating, and can pretty much choose how much they want to rip you off. Does make you wonder how much money they make off people who can't be bothered to phone around, or know how to get them to knock it down a bit. They're as bad as phone companies around contract renewal time
It was the same with me for my valver mate. Admiral was te cheapest at jsut under 800, AF was 1600, NU 1800....FORTIS...FOUR GRAND!!!
Myabe that explains the difference then. If one day they're using a gerbil but then sub in a hamster at the weekend the differing motive power available from the two species is obviously going to affect the performance of the Quoteoutofthinairatron3000
just read phatty's thread, and went back to this, so will do mate doubt they'll beat 408 FC with mods declared tho.
i've always found elephant cheap ^ tesco & privilege - but i dont declare any mods, as i've not got anything drastic ie alloys = vw, sports exhaust but looks normal & K&n & sound system (which isnt normally insured anyway)..
Mine came in at just over 500 with Brentacre, Protected NCB, Third Party Cover on other cars, power limit of 180bhp, all mods declared and im pretty sure they are covered. And anything else can be done to the car styling/handling/engine etc as long as im below my bhp limit.
Mine is similar to Luke's too but I think it was around 600 with a power limit up to about 150bhp when I declared the 2 litre engine which is about right, must like in a more expensive postcode area? I need to renew it in a few months anyway so will have to up the bhp limit a bit as I'll be fitting my P&P'd head then I would go with Brentacre even if they aren't quite the cheapest due to their modification policy, other places can charge a fortune when you make mods down the line even if the policy is slightly cheaper to start with.
Getting old Some people say putting a lower risk driver (like your mum) on as a named driver can reduce it. If you have a second car or drive a works vehicle then say that, means more experience but less of it on your insurance. If you don't use it to commute then that may also knock a couple of quid off, some insurers don't care though. Limited mileage policies are a lot cheaper as well, if you do less than about 8000 a year then start looking down that road. If you're a young'un then an advanced driving course will probably help you as well.
called brentacre. 790 FC with 180 bhp limit.. not what i was hoping for tbh [:^(] Admiral are 408 FC all mods declared
