Just ordered an Alpine MRP-F240 amp, JBL 506c components and an Alpine SXE1041 sub for my Mk2 golf. Just wondered if the standard battery will be OK or will it drain it too much? The amp isn't massively powerful (quoted 50w RMS per channel) and my multimeter reads 14.3V when the engine is running.

When I set it all up is there a definite way to tell if I need a new battery? I.e. headlights dimming

if the headlights dim or when playing the voltage drops below 12v with engine running you will be best with a bigger battery apart from that it should be fine

Do you know what size/rating battery i might need? Im pretty sure it's a 65amp alternator so a 66amp battery will probably do?
