Will speedo cable fit a later box?

    Hi

I had an 8v old 020 box and am fitting a Mk 3 020 (onto an ABF) but the Mk 3 box has an electric sender where the speedo cable is on the old 020.

Do I assume that the electric sender uses the speedo drive so if I remove it and replace it with the old speedo cable holder (the location bracket/seal looks exactly the same) I can simply swap it over?

    Excellent, thanks.

Thats a nice easy little job to do as I`m finding out that although an ABF into Mk1 transplant seems straightforward, its got lots of niggly bits that take a lot of time and effort.

So I take it that this can be achieved in swapping clocks too putting newer clocks into an older car?

    Cheers

Yup, I believe my final drive is 3.667, currently on the car so I can't check the gearbox code, but it's a 1.8 Rocco of 89 vintage. I wasn't completely grasping everything on Brokes website, hence reason for asking, lol.

Thankyou for hte response!! :) Now to find said speedothingy :p

The original Mk 1 cable (top in the top photo) is nothing like the Mk3 sender (bottom photo) ......................

Do I remove the red geared sleeve and put it on the Mk 1 cable?????

A dealer should be able to supply one, but get the gearbox code first as there are different colours of speedo drive to suit different final drive ratios in the various gearboxes.
