do all mk2 rear calipers have to be twisted back? evern the later ones that dont have the hex center bit?????

first time to ever take off the discs and the caliper seems seized.

so do all mk2 rear calipers have to be wound back(turned?)

    thanks

My '91 golf ones did. Used a home made tool and applied lots of pressure on it.
The caliper may be seized because Mk2 rear calipers are rubbish

Yeah they need to be wound back, that's what the 2 little slots in the piston are for. If it's off the car it should go with a set of circlip pliers (or similar), or you could just buy the proper wind back tool :)
