Hey guys, bit of help required please...
I am planning to change the front window regulator in my Golf as the electric motor is no longer functioning. The only problem is that the window in stuck up in the closed position and I don't think I will be able to get to the channel bolts (window lifting plate). Any advice on how to remove these, or getting the window regulator out?

    Thanks in advance

While it's a bit of a faff you can undo the 10mm bolts clamping the glass with a spanner (rather than socket) while in this position then undo all nuts attaching mechanism to the door and remove the whole mechanism.

undo all the bolts on the regulator, it'll then fall down in the door a bit. this gives better access to the glass bolts, either allowing you direct access with a socket, or at least making it easier to get to them with a spanner

have a helper hold the glass as you undo the bolts, so it doesnt just drop straight down tho

I find gaffs taping the glass to the frame first takes the worry out of dropping the glass
