    Probably a long shot.....

After installing windows 7 and being very impressed so far I have just hit a rather large brick wall, I've tried to install ELSA win and Autodata, something I find very usefull for wiring diagrams and stuff but am unable to install them, well autodata installed ok but won't run and ELSA wont even set up.

I've tried running these programs in compatibility modes (xp sp2 etc) but it still comes up with the same errors.

Can anyone shed any light[:s] or is it operation buy a cheap computer to run these programs on?

Whats the difference between 64 and 32 bit versions of windows 7 anyway?

Dont think its going to work mate.
Windows 7 support for one, x64 also!

What about XP mode for windows 7?
Only way to get it to work would be running a virtual PC with a copy of XP on. Sounds hard but its **** easy!

Here's a link to the official download of VMware Workstation v6.5.3 build 185404 http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/VMware-Workstation-Download-5341.html 500MB download. It's a trial version, but I'll PM you a link to turn it to the full version if your interested.

You can run numerous operating systems, within an operating system with this. I use it to test cut down/customised versions of Windows or linux. Or I sometimes use Etka on a virtual XP operating system.

Before you do that. Have a look at Microsoft Virtual PC. **** easy to use and was free the last time i looked!

I'd be tempted to get a cheap base unit for as few quid from the local ads or Ebay and run that as a stand alone?

Think you need 64bit edition of the software? if available
or as said above run from virtual desktop....we have to use that at work
because a prog dates from 1990!

Cool - the good thing about the Virtual PC and software like ETKA is you can then copy the VM image and use it on another workstation.
