Is it safe to drive my 88 16v without the windscreen in?

I heard that the earlier windscreens that aren't bonded in aren't structural, but would it still be unsafe to drive?

    talking about this...

my mate was driving his mini (painted in dulux white emulsion) and a stone smashed his windscreen, he had to kick it out, was near a DIY shop, stuck on some safety goggles and drove home like that for another 35 miles!!!

must have looked so so so so so so funny!

yup you can do it, they do provide some stiffness to the shell but you main problem will be flies and grit as they really hurt, a small cloud of midges at 75mph on a bike (no helmet) nearly shotblast my face.....

Only the bonded windscreens (Rallye, etc. and the yank Mk2's) are structural. Don't forget your Biggles scarf...

I'll tell you the one about my astra windscreen washers freezing in the snow about 6 years ago. Trouble was I couldnt see no matter what I did with the fluid. The snow was falling, plus i wanted to spend crimbo with this girl I was seeing at the time so I drove from Cornwall to London (to get fresh socks) then to Bedford with my head out of the window.

That actually illegal to do on the road in a car.

Wear some safty google and winddown your rear windows to give the air somewhere to go. It will accelerate a lot slower without the windscreen
