Was on the hunt for a Mk2 or Mk3 anni. Sadly there are so few about now that any that wouldn't require a few hundred in welding are well out of my price range. Although alot less practical I settled on this Mk4 in black magic as a winter project car to keep me busy. Not my first choice but you do get alot of car for the money. FVWSH too.

Came with heated leather, nice but not supportive enough. Sold it to make way for a set of recaros.

Found some Grey heated Recaros, will bang em in some time next week. Also on the hunt for a set of santa monicas. R32 suspension intalled too.

Yeah it was quite tidy at the start of the build. Currently I'm in the "Oh God, what have I done???" stage now, stripped interior, primed scratch on rear wing, removed the V6 & 4motion badges and US-spec rear light clusters are in. Starting to look like a real stripped out mess now.

Still looking for a nice set of Santa monicas. Probably will go for the Cupra R wishbones and front hubs too though.

I hear you on that Matt. Sadly though it appears the 24v VR6 doesn't have the same burble that the 12v versions had. It seems smoother though but its lost that almost american muscle-car sound my Mk3 VR6 had. On the plus side Its got huge punch at lower revs, something the Mk3 Vr6 lacked. Love flooring it out of the roundabouts in second gear, torque is very meaty and puts a big smile on your face. Sadly with all that low end punch it handles like a barge, pitches upwards under hard acceleration, nosedives under heavy braking and feels like its going to roll over around fast bends. The R32 shocks springs and roll bars should fix that as soon as they are fitted. Goes well in straight lines though.

If your looking for the best sounding VW engine I'd go for the V5 Matt. I have a 5 door one.. sounds lovely!

They turn into VR6's once you get rid of the garish fake wood trim and that tacky 4motion badge on its rear. ;)

6cyl is the future. its a totally different power delivery which is a good thing and depending on the garnish your 6cyl has it will have a character of its own

sadly a 6cyl mk4 wouldnt suit me due to the miles it does.

vr6 plus turbo must be the pinicle of Golf win
