    Has anyone got a diagram for this or can me where i need to connect the wires to on the back o the fusebox. Also, is the relay really necessary and if so, is there a speciafic one for use with these washers?? They only work when the headlights are on when factory fitted so i dont think it is a simple case of splicing in to the wiring for the front/rear screen washers.....

    any info appeciated.

    Thanks :)

    you could easily just take your feed's off the the washer bottle save looming into the car just see what current rating the circuit is and add all motors values to ensure you dont overload the circuit....

    Did you buy them from VW or fom a broken Golf?
    Last time I asked VW the washer units alone were 35 each [:s]

    Sorry guys forgot about this, strangely the Bentley A2 manual has nothing about MK2 headlight washers in it, no aiming patterns, removal and replacemnt instructions or wiring diagrams. Were they avalable as an option from VWoA?

    Perhaps you could get a wiring diagram from a Audi manual?

    Im still trying to work this one out [8-}]

    Apparently there is a relay within the circuit also (Pt number 701 955 200 according to ETKA) but i havent a clue how this wires in relation to the rest of it.... Unfortunately the link to the Bentley page above, while highlighing the correct position on the fusebox for the connector, it doenst show the wire colouring or which one goes where [^(]

    Can anyone help me out???? [:[]

    I think that at some point I was lead to believe that the wiring was already set up for these: the spare connectors just inside the front wings, behind the headlights? (there definitely are some 3 or 4 pin connectors, either side, on my 88 16V), which I presume are already wired up correctly so only need to connect up jets to a water line (T-piece from the front washer line perhaps?), or am I being simplistic here.
    This is one of the many hundreds of things on my list of to-do's!

    Ok, took a while but here you go!
    It looks like the relay should go in position 7
    Y/2 -> B/5 - Red - headlight washer relay pin 30 (live feed)
    B/2 -> B/1 - green/red - headlight washer relay pin S (washer trigger feed)
    C/3 -> B/4 - brown - headlight washer relay pin 31 (earth)
    D/4 -> B/3 - white/black - headlight washer relay pin 56 (lights on feed)
    B/6 - red - headlight washer pump pin 1 (headlight washer relay pin 87)

    The other pin of the washer pump is earthed to location 30, which is the earth 'claw' next to the fusebox. I'd just run it to the battery -ve for an easy life...

    so is the wiring already there for the headlamp washers then or does it need wiring in to the fusebox?

    I doubt it for pre-90 MK2s, AFAIK it has an auxilery relay above the fusebox? It might be there for post 90 MK2s, you'll have to check ;)
