I just went to take my front N/S wishbone off my Mk2 and the rear bush bolt just turns. I have removed the carpet to find a small bung covering the hole above the turning bolt.

    What can I do?

Help would be very much appreciated

U might need someone to give you a hand

Put a socket on a nut and hold it while someone undoes the bolt from underneath

Possible to do it on your own but well tricky!

    You need loooooong arms

It is a normal shaped bolt or is it a round one welded on?
I can't see down the hole because of how far it is under the dash and deep down the hole

its a captive nut,you will need to cut a hole in the floor to gain access, remove the protective wax and weld the nut back in place:)

Mate of mine said he had a similar problem a few years ago on his Mk2 and he cut the head off the bolt, knocked it up into the car and then replaced it with a new high tensile bolt. Will this work and will it be safe or is it safer to cut a huge hole in the floor to get to the nut and get it welded on?

    Sorted...........

Took out the plug in the floorpan,

Ground the top of the bolt underneath the car and knocked it through into the car.

On refitting, dropped a new bolt through from the inside and fitted a nylock nut, & spring washer. Better & quicker than cutting the floor & welding.
